KABUL’s restive tribal region of South Waziristan on Wednesday.

At least three fighters were wounded in the explosion in Shaktoi area, Pakistani media reported. The incident was linked to ongoing infighting between rival factions of Taliban.

DawnNews identified the commander as Amir Hamza. Clashes between Sajna and Shehryar Mehsud groups have left scores of militants killed.

According to Express News, the explosive device had been planted on the side of a road in Ladha sub-district. The injured were taken to hospital in critical condition.

A day earlier, six security personnel were killed and 12 others, including an assistant commissioner, wounded in a fierce gunbattle with robbers during a bank robbery attempt in Balochistan.

One robber also died in the incident when law-enforcement personnel tried to foil the robbery bid. Armed men barged into a bank in Mastung and after taking staff hostage at gunpoint started filling bags with cash.
