MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Taliban on Saturday kidnapped the intelligence officer for the Balcharagh district of northern Faryab province, an official said.

Abdul Mobin was on his way to home in Qaisar district when he was kidnapped by militants, said Gen. Toryalai Abdyani, the provincial police chief.

He added police had stepped up efforts to ensure the early release of the official. The kidnappers freed two other people abducted along with the intelligence operative.

Elsewhere, two people were killed as a result of a clash between two local commanders in Koliyan village. The clash erupted between supporters of Jamiat-i-Islami and Junbish-i-Milli partly.
