KABUL (Pajhwok): More than a dozen militants have been killed and another 21 detained in Takhar and Herat provinces, officials claimed on Monday.
Officials in northeastern Takhar said seven insurgents and three policemen were killed and 21 rebels detained during security operations in four districts.
The governor’s spokesman, Sunnatullah Timor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operations were conducted in Ashkmash, Chah Aab, Rustaq Yangi Kala and Khwajah Bahauddin districts.
He said the detainees included Taliban Halim, Qari Islamuddin, Abdul Fattah and Maulvi Nasruddin.
In Herat, half a dozen fighters were killed and two ALP members injured during an operation in Obe district.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Samiullah Qatra said the operation was launched on Sunday in Aswaj and Shulgary areas of the district was still ongoing.
Meanwhile, a policeman was killed in a bomb blast in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province.
The magnetic bomb had been attached to the motorcycle the policeman was riding, said the first police district chief, 2d Lt. Gul Agha.
