FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Triggered by torrential rain, floods killed three people and washed away 150 houses in western Ghor province, an official said on Monday.

The overnight flood killed three people in the Tasraqi and Cheri areas of Ferozkoh, the provincial capital, and damages crops on hundreds of acres of farmland in Daulaina and Shahrak districts, said Hamidullah Dadfar, the Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) head for Ghor,

Mohammad Qasim, a resident of Tasriqi village, told Pajhwok Afghan News the flood washed away the houses of many people in the area. The victims were in dire need of assistance, he said, adding government officials were yet to reach the areas.

But the ANDMA official said relief teams had been sent to the flood-hit areas to evacuate affected people to safer places and provide them with food and medicine.

He said an amount of 50,000 afghanis would be donated to the family of each victim and 10,000 afs to each family that lost their houses.
