SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) director for northern Jawzjan province was on Wednesday accused of embezzling aid for floods-affected residents.
ANDMA Director Azizur Rahman Emaq allegedly misused aid from Azerbaijan to the flood-affected families of Jawzjan, Governor Murad Qwainly told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The governor claimed having strong evidence of Emaq’s involvement in misappropriating foreign assistance. The director has been referred to the prosecution office and will be investigated.
But Emaq rejected the accusation as a conspiracy against him. “I have delivered 40 tonnes of food and other items donated by Azerbaijan to the affected families in front of local officials.”
Court of Appeal officials confirmed receiving orders to detain the accused and said they would investigate the case.
