KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Thursday said the time for registering complaints about votes from 444 polling sites had been extended by five hours, ending 1pm.
IECC Secretary Nader Mohseni told reporters the decision was taken after results from the polling sites were uploaded five hours behind schedule on the Independent Election Commission (IEC) website.
He said candidates could lodge objections until 1pm. After investigating votes from the 444 sites, the IEC on Wednesday announced invalidating ballots from 36.
Mohseni said two complaints — one each from leading presidential runners Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai — had been recorded.
