KABUL (PARSA) organization on Thursday said its “Afghan Scouts Youth Leadership Programme” was set to go national on May 17.
In a statement, PARSA, a private NGO that works directly with disadvantaged people in Afghanistan, said over 40 volunteers from eight provinces would travel to Kabul to take part in a weeklong Scout Master Training course and certification.
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) will be sending its trainers to sanction the event, it said, calling it a major step in the Afghan Scouts becoming an internationally recognised Scouting Association and official member of WOSM.
“Upon graduation, our new Scout Masters will return to their home provinces as members of PARSA’s Volunteer Scout Association and will be responsible for founding their own Scout Troops there,” the statement said.
It added PARSA invited all those interested in youth leadership in Afghanistan and particularly the Afghan Scouts to attend the opening ceremonies for the event.
The event will take place May 17, from 10am to 12pm at PARSA’s Main Offices in Marastoon, Afshar.
Scouts and Cub Scouts will be in attendance to sing the national anthem. Said Husain Agha, the Director of the Volunteer Scout Association, will be the guest speaker.
