WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): US President, Barack Obama would present an award to an American sergeant for his courageous action in Afghanistan in 2007, the White House said Friday.

“On Tuesday (May 13), the president will award Kyle J. White, a former active duty army sergeant, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry,” Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz told reporters.

Sergeant White will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving in the remote eastern province Nuristan on November 9, 2007.  He will be the seventh living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he works as an investment analyst, White joined the army in February 2006 as an infantryman.  After completion of training, he was assigned to Vicenza, Italy.
