HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A motorcycle bomb and a mortar attack left two civilians dead and 10 others wounded in the Obe and Shindand districts of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
The bomb-rigged bike went off on Thursday noon in the Obe’s district bazaar, injuring seven civilians, who were shopping, the provincial police spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said the injured had been taken to hospital and blamed the explosion on the Taliban.
A day earlier, a mortar shell allegedly fired by the rebels hit a civilian house in the Shindand district, killing two people and injuring three others, Ahmadi said.
A woman was among the two dead and two children and a woman were injured in the incident, he added, claiming the person, who fired the shell, had been arrested and was being interrogated.
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the two incidents.
