KABUL (Pajhwok): As a three-week runoff election campaign got under way, the poll panel asked the two leading runners to respect the relevant rules.
All candidates signed the Code of Conduct at the time of their nominations, the Independent Electoral Election Commission said.
“Any violation of the Regulation on the Electoral Campaign and Code of Conduct can be investigated by the IEC and IECC,” a statement from the commission said.
The candidates were asked to respect Article 49 of the relevant regulating electoral expenses and provide report on their spending to the IEC.
It urged the government to put effective instruments in place to monitor the impartiality and non-interference by officials in the electoral processes and prohibition of misuse of authority and public resources.
