PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Six civilians were killed in a roadside bombing while three militants were perished in a clash with security forces in central Logar province, an official said Tuesday.
The incident took place when a vehicle of foreign forces struck by roadside bomb in Babos area, on the outskirts of Pul-I-Alam, the provincial capital, late on Monday, a tribal elder Haji Baqi Ahmadzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said six civilians were killed after the car they were traveling was caught in the explosion. Four religious scholars were also among the fatalities, he added.
A resident of the area, Haji Narzar Khan said the blast occurred when the civilian car was passing with the foreign forces’ convoy.
Logar officials confirmed explosion on foreign forces but they were unaware whether foreign forces suffered any casualties.
Provincial Police Chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Eshaqzai said the targeted vehicle of the foreign forces was destroyed but soldiers remained unhurt.
Meanwhile, Eshaqzai said three militants were killed and two others wounded during a clash with police in Babos area. Police suffered no casualties, he said.
Taliban have commented on the incident.
