Russia’s special envoy calls on Karzai

KABUL Zamir Kabulov at his office on Tuesday, said the next Afghan president would maintain friendly relations with Russia.

Karzai and Kabulov discussed bilateral relations and Saturday’s presidential runoff election, a statement issued from the Presidential Palace said.

President Karzai said the next Afghan government would maintain friendly relations with Russia because relations with Moscow had special importance for Kabul.

For his part, Kabulov said Russia and Afghanistan had shared interests and geographical closeness and Moscow attached great importance to enhanced relations between the two countries.
