KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Anti-Corruption Network (AACN) on Thursday said that cabinet ministers and senior officials should keep themselves read for accountability by the next government.

A statement from AACN said Afghanistan was heading to power transition in a peaceful way and the current cabinet, including ministers and senior officials, should be held accountable by the next government.

“Most of senior officials have overstepped their authority and involved in corruption and misappropriation. These sorts of affairs create a sense of concern among Afghans and civil society activists,” the statement added.

AACN praised enthusiasm demonstrated by common Afghans in the election process and at the same time urged the electoral bodies to remain neutral in the democratic process in larger interests of the country and nation.

It asked the electoral bodies to thwart any rigging, fraud and irregularity attempt by anyone in the ballot.
