HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Obe district administrative chief has been suspended due to his alleged involvement in fraud in the runoff vote, an official said on Monday.

The Herat governor’s spokesman, Ihsanullah Hayat, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Qayyum Zawri had beaten a worker at a polling site on the Election Day.

Daud Sadiqzada, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) director, stated the district chief misused his power by forcing IEC employees to keep the site open beyond the scheduled time.

Pajhwok repeatedly tried to get Abdul Qayyum’s comments, but to no avail.
