KABUL Joint Working Group on Wednesday urged the electoral bodies to count votes, address complaints and announce the runoff election results in a transparent manner.

“We call on both candidates to submit their complaints to IECC, wait for result announcement by IEC and avoid judgmental statements that may result in misunderstanding amongst their followers, especially youth.”

A statement from the group asked relevant institutions to prosecute the individuals who had committed fraud during the election.

“Counting votes and announcing the results is the responsibility and liability of IEC and IECC which we expect to be carried with full responsibility and accountability to the people,” it added.

The group expected both candidates would respect the decision of the IEC by accepting the results, slated for July 2.
