MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok):  The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) has received and registered 62 complaints about irregularities during the presidential runoff election in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Monday.

IECC official Hayatullah Hamid told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had registered 35 of the complaints in Wardak and received another 23 objections from the IECC central office for an investigation.

He said 30 complaints were against the two presidential runners — 22 against Abdullah and eight against Ashraf Ghani.

Hamid said 22 complaints had been lodged against election workers and 11 complaints received from security forces.

He said 49 of the complaints registered after investigation would impact the results.

Investigations into these complaints would be complete until Wednesday and the findings would be shared with the IECC main office in Kabul, he said.

About 278,000 individuals exercised their right to enfranchise on the election day in Wardak, where 463 polling sites were open, according to the Independent Election Commission.
