Casualties as police, rebels clash in Herat
QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Three policemen and two Taliban militants were killed during a clash in the Karkh district of western Herat province on Tuesday, an official said.
Another three policemen and two militants were injured during the firefight that occurred in Abkhoban area on the Qala-i-Naw-Herat Highway before noon, said the police chief of western Badghis province.
Col. Muhammad Qayum Angar told Pajhwok Afghan News the police were keeping security for the road when came under attack from insurgents.
A resident of the area, Aminullah, also confirmed the casualties the two sides suffered during the clash.
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the event.
