Parents of slain minor girl seek justice

Parents of slain minor girl seek justice

Jun 26, 2014 - 20:17

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The parents of a two-year-old slain girl on Thursday accused their neighbours of mercilessly killing their daughter and security forces of taking no action against the murderers.

With signs of poverty and deprivation visible on their faces, the parents – father Khan Gul and mother Ayesha --- urged the government to provide them justice in the murder of their daughter Najiba.

Khan Gul, while holding the corpse of his minor daughter wrapped in a white cloth, told Pajhwok Afghan News they lived in Deh Khwaja area in the limits of the fourth police district of Kandahar City. Their four children carried people’s goods in hand-cards to earn money, he said.

A real inhabitant of southern Ghazni province, Gul, whose family lives in a house against rent in Deh Khwaja area, said his neighbours have long been mistreating them.

“Our neighbours curse us for being poor, they call us dirty people and are against our dwelling near them,” he said.

He said their neighbours belonged to Arghandab district and his poverty did not allow him to react to their mistreatment.

“Their hatred for us reaches the peak the other day when they stoned to death our two-year-old daughter and tossed her body into a stream,” a perturbed Khan Gul said.

He said the motive behind Najiba’s murder was that the neighbours wanted to expel them from the house and live themselves there.

Sings of torture on Najiba’s face and body were clearly visible.

Her mother Ayesha was crying loudly. She said their neighbours tricked Najiba into going with them to play with their kids, but she did not return then.

She said they found Najiba’s body in the canal after a long-lasting search. “We want justice and punishment to the killers of our daughter,” the mother said.

Security officials confirmed the murder and said they had launched investigation.

Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani said they were aware about the gruesome murder of a minor girl.

He said police were investigating the case and the killers wound be arrested soon.

Pajhwok tried to seek comments from the family’s neighbours but found no one.
