KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential runners Dr Abdullah and members of his Reform and Unanimity team on Friday joined thousands of supporters to protest alleged electoral fraud, marching across the capital.

The protestors from different parts of the city gathered in Pashtunistan Square near the Presidential Palace, chanting: “Death to Cheats, We Have Won and We Don’t Want Sheep to Participate.”

Abdullah, Mahmud Karzai, Amarullah Saleh, Salahuddin Rabbani, Allah Gul Mujahid and other members of the team joined the demonstrators in marching from Pashtunistan Square to the Foreign Ministry road.

Saleh accused President Hamid Karzai of complicity in electoral rigging and asked him to quit and purge the top constitutional office. They continue their protest as long as their complaints were not addressed, the former spy chief added.

As the demonstration forced the closure of key roads, inconveniencing commuters, Allah Gul Mujahid said: “We don’t want fraudulent votes. Those involved in rigging should be prosecuted.”

It was the first time the ex-foreign minister himself participated in what his camp described as the biggest protest since the June 14 runoff vote between him and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
