FEROZK0H (Pajhwok): Five people have been killed during a clash between gunmen loyal to two rival commanders in western Ghor province, an official said on Wednesday.

The clash took place a day earlier between supporters of Arbab Atta Muhammad and Abdul Samad in Siachob area of Dolina district, Ghor crime branch chief Col. Abdul Hadi Chalghori said.

He said the dead included a son of commander Atta and two gunmen of Samad, who had been detained by Atta’s fighters.

The official linked the clash to personal enmity and said “no information about casualties among civilians could be ascertained.”

Security forces have been sent to the area, some 40 kilometers from the Dolina district headquarters, to prevent further casualties.

The governor’s spokesman Abdul Hai Khatibi said security forces sent to the area had been unable so far to bring the situation under control.
