Mark Binskin told reporters initial information suggested the soldier was wounded in a non-military incident.

Currently, Australia has 400 soldiers in Afghanistan who were deployed in Uruzgan and Kabul provinces.

The country had previously 2,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and 41 of them had been killed so far since the start of their mission.
