KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on Friday condemned a bomb blast that ripped through a busy marketplace in the capital of northern Balkh province, leaving three shoppers dead and 10 others wounded a day earlier.
The blast near the Hazrat Ali Mausoleum took place at a time when people were preparing for the breaking of fast (iftari) in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Karzai condemned the death of innocent civilians in the blast as a blind act of terrorism in a statement released from his office.
The president said killing innocent people in this holy month of Ramadan was the greatest sin on the part of those hell-bent on shedding the blood of Afghans.
Karzai extended his deep condolences to the families who lost their beloved ones in the terrorist attack and prayed for early recovery of those injured.
