MAIDAN SHAHR/TARINKOT/KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Two security personnel and 30 insurgents were killed and score others wounded in latest violence related incidents in different parts of the country, officials said on Monday.
An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and a police trainer were killed and five others wounded during a clash with militants in the Malikhel locality of central Maidan Wardak province.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces had gunned down eight rebels and wounded seven others in an overnight operation in Syedabad district.
In central Uruzgan, 12 militants were killed and six others wounded in a gunbattle with security forces in the Sabzal locality of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, crime branch chief, Col. Gulab Khan said .
The firefight erupted after militants stormed police check posts in the area, he said, adding security forces escaped unhurt during the clash.
Elsewhere, ten Taliban, including a foreigner militant, were killed in an exchange of gunfire with police in the Chahar Dara district of Kunduz province, police chief Col. Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni said.
He said the firefight erupted after the insurgents mounted an attack on a police check-post in the area. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents.
