QALAT (Pajhwok): Four Afghan Local Police (ALP) members, including their commander, have been killed mysteriously in Shahr-i-Safa district of southern Zabul province, an official said Thursday.

The overnight incident took place at a security post in Khanzo area of the district late Wednesday, local ALP Commander Gul Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News.

According to their initial information, the ALP members were killed by their two colleagues and then managed to flee after the incident, he added.

The attackers have also taken a police pick-up, five Kalashnikovs, a machinegun and a walkie-talkie with them, he said.

A delegation has been sent to the area to closely investigate the incident, he said.

Taliban Spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi claimed that the slain policemen were killed by two of his fighters who had infiltrated police ranks.
