KABUL’s North Waziristan tribal region, where a military offensive has been underway.

Flanked by members of a high-powered delegation, Governor Mohibullah Samim held out the promise while distributing aid to the displaced families in Orgun and Barmal districts. Tents, blankets, flour, rice, sugar, oil, tea and other commodities were distributed to the families.

He said people living on both sides of the Durand Line would extend all possible cooperation to facilitate them. At least 10,000 families have fled North Waziristan and arrived here, he said.

About 1,000 families had been given relief goods and the rest would also be provided aid, the governor promised. He appreciated the people of Paktika for extending support to the refugee families and accommodating them inside their homes.

Muhammad Yaqoob Ahmadzai, the deputy minister of border and tribal affairs, pledged the displaced families would be given all possible aid.
