Vote recount to ensure transparency
KABUL (Pajhwok): In a move to ensure fair and transparent presidential elections, every single vote must be recounted and audited, the Federation of Afghanistan Civil Society (FACS) chairman said on Saturday.
Siddique Mansoor Ansari said both first and 2nd rounds had been conducted at a heavy price for the Afghans and International civilians and security forces. Transparent results must be ensured, he stressed.
Calling for an end to the current electoral dispute, Ansari proposed a 70-member board with representatives from all parts of the country to watch around 340 observation teams of seven persons each in all 34 provinces.
The concept proposes 10 seven-member teams from the mentioned categories for observing and recounting the votes in 34 province of the country and accordingly each team will recount around 23,600 votes.
FACS hoped the concept would help resolve the current electoral deadlock and called upon the president, the candidates, the Afghans and the international community to stand for transparent final results.
