KABUL by the Pakistani military.

The issue came up for discussion during an NSC meeting, chaired by President Hamid Karzai, the Presidential Palace said. The Ministries of Interior and Border and Tribal Affairs were ordered to ascertain the location where barbed wire was being installed.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said the NSC had further ordered the ministries to determine the position of the barbed wire from the zero point. The installation work is said to be ongoing across the Durand Line near Paktika province.

Pakistan share a 2,430-km border, with militants operating on both sides and conducting deadly attacks on security forces and civilians.

The meeting was informed that armed insurgents had lately been killing innocent people on the pretext of cooperating with government. The enemies had resorted to roadside bombings in various provinces, killing and harassing innocent people.

While strongly condemned perpetrators of these acts, the NSC asked security forces to forge greater harmony and cooperation with locals in fighting saboteurs.
