MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Militants killed three persons, including police commander, and wounded five others in Grezwan district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said Friday.
Abdul Razzaq Kakar, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Ismail, commander of the Darajor police post, was heading toward his home in a car when he was ambushed by insurgents.
Kakar said other civilians were travelling in the same car. Three of them, including the commander, were killed on the spot.
Abdul Latif, provincial council member, confirmed killing of commander Ismail and two others. He commended Ismail as a brave and professional police officer who drove militants out from the area.
