District crime branch chief killed in explosion

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Kajran district crime branch chief has been killed in a bomb explosion in central Daikundi province, an official said on Friday.  

The blast occurred in the Sauf Wa Karez area of the district on Thursday, the deputy police chief for Daikundi said.

Col. Asif Sherzai, speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, identified the victim as 2^nd Lt. Kamal. Two of his colleagues were wounded in the attack.

One civilian also lost his life in the incident, according to Sherzai, who said the officials had gone to the area to investigate a fire incident.

Syed Mohammad Dawood Nasiri, a parliamentarian from Daikundi, blamed security organs for paying no attention to the situation in the district.

“We have repeatedly asked the Ministries of Interior and Defence to deploy more forces to oust the Taliban from Kajran but they have done nothing in this regard,” he alleged.
