AYBAK (Pajhwok): The Germany helped trained at least 52 members of the department of agriculture, irrigation and livestock (DAIL) in northern Samangan province who successfully completed courses in water management, horticulture and plant protection and procurement.

A statement from the German Cooperation with Afghanistan said on Saturday that the aim of the participants’ was to improve their knowledge of modern farming methods as well as their management skills for agricultural projects.

As the majority of the population relies on farming and livestock to sustain a livelihood, the civil servants and employees at the DAIL would now be in a better position to advise citizens on effective ways for cultivating their land and increasing their income, the statement added.

The statement said that the training started cost a total of 1,251,350 afghanis. The project proposal was approved by the Samangan Provincial Development Committee (PDC).
