In brief remarks at the signing ceremony at the Presidential Palace, Karzai assured his successor of all-out support and guidance. “It’s the moment the nation had been waiting for impatiently,” he observed.
He believed the incoming administration would be able to attain the key objectives of peace and economic progress. “I expect my successor will do what I couldn’t during my 13-year rule,” the outgoing leader remarked.
While congratulating the two presidential runners on inking the accord after marathon negotiations, Karzai said the understanding would usher in a new era of prosperity and good governance in Afghanistan.
“By the grace of Allah and with our support and vision, Afghanistan will achieve peace and happiness. I congratulate you and wish you all success,” the president told the ceremony participants, including jihadi leaders, ministers and lawmakers.
