KABUL, on Friday.
Dawn quoted senior security officials as saying that the militant fatalities happened in the first wave of a fresh offensive in Bara sub-district. The offensive is focused on areas between Bara and Tirah valley.
A curfew has been imposed in the area and people are barred from entering or leaving Bara, a rugged terrain on the outskirts of Peshawar. All routes leading to the area have been blocked.
Despite restrictions, the newspaper reported, many families had started moving to safer places as the offensive against militant groups was intensified. Jet fighters are flying over the area.
More than 20 insurgents were killed on Thursday when fighter jets pounded positions of the outlawed Lashkar-i-Islam group in Akakhel area. Five hideouts of the Bara-based group were destroyed in the strikes.
