KABUL’s neighbours, a diplomat said on Sunday.
Ambassador Janan Mosazai, addressing a two-day trilateral conference in Islamabad, urged friendly countries including Pakistan and other militant outfits.
Noted scholars, diplomats and professionals from the three countries discussed different strategic issues to draw up a roadmap for the future and seek regional cooperation on Afghanistan after the NATO exit.
In his speech, Musazai said: “A key element of our national strategy will be to continue efforts to launch a meaningful Afghan-led process of direct negotiations and reconciliation with the armed opposition.”
The multiyear security agreements with the US and NATO were in the interest of the Afghan people, the ambassador explained. “Simply put, these partnerships don’t pose any threat to our neighbours.”
According to one Pakistani newspaper, The Express Tribune, the Pakistan-China Institute has arranged the two-day event in collaboration with Konrad Adeneaur Stiftung (KAS).
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said cooperation among the three countries would benefit the region. Building mutual trust and friendly consultations should be encouraged to promote cooperation, he suggested.
