KABUL’s economy, especially in the area of mining.

He issued the call while inaugurating a three-day exhibition of Afghan and Indian products at a luxury hotel Kabul. Indian traders have set 26 stalls and Afghans 17.

Indian businesspeople have displayed medical equipment, irrigation machinery, agricultural appliances, plastic, information technology, steel and stone products.

Afghans carpets, dried fruits, handicrafts, solar power systems, building materials and information technology tools are also on show.

Speaking on the occasion, Arghandiwal asked the Indians to make use of the huge investment opportunities in the country, particularly in the mining sector. On their own, the Afghans could not exploit their mineral wealth.

The Afghan government would offer good investment opportunities for the Indians, the minister promised, saying: “If work on developing the mining sector continues over the next 10 years, the country will become self-sufficient.”

India’s Deputy Ambassador Veeraj Sena said businessmen from his country were ready to invest in Afghanistan and forge cooperative links with their Afghan counterparts.
