KABUL (Pajhwok): A rehabilitated cricket training academy has been opened in central Logar province, with cricket officials hoping the facility would help hunt talent for the national side.

Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the academy was inaugurated during a special ceremony attended by the acting provincial governor, Niaz Mohammad Ameri, and ACB senior officials.

He said Ameri thanked the ACB for its efforts to renovate the academy, which he hoped would once again enable the youth from Logar to find place in the national side.

ACB president Shehzada Massoud in his remarks said the youth of Logar had a great potential, which needed to be exploited. He said the training academy would help resolve problems previously faced by cricketers in the province.

ACB CEO Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad said the academy’s renovation meant polishing the youth’s talent.

He said the young players would learn the game in an academic environment in the heart of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.
