KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and his Azerbaijan counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday agreed to reach a strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries, the Presidential Palace said.
The agreement between the two leaders came during a telephonic conversation, the brief statement said.
It quoted Ghani as saying that Afghanistan and Azerbaijan enjoyed historic cultural and religious relations. He said Afghanistan wanted to learn from experiences of Azerbaijan in areas of reforms and development.
He said an Afghan delegation led by Minister of Commerce and Industries would be visiting Azerbaijan for preliminary work on the proposed agreement between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani president said his country wanted to bolster economic relations with Afghanistan and hoped President Ghani’s era would see bilateral trade ties reaching the climax.
During their conversation, both the presidents invited each other to visit their countries.
