KABUL (Pajhwok): Mohammad Omar Safi has been appointed as new governor of northern Kunduz province, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) announced on Tuesday.
President Ashraf Ghani has approved the appointment of Safi, who holds a Master’s in Security and Risk Management from the Leicester University of the United Kingdom.
A statement from IDLG said the 42-year-old, a resident of northern Balkh province, had worked for the United Nations. It also applauded outgoing governor Ghulam Sakhi Baghlani’s services.
