KABUL (Pajhwok): One person was wounded in a bomb explosion on Saturday in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province, an official said.

Two other explosions rocked southern Kandahar and eastern Kunar provinces but caused no casualties.

Javed Basharat, Baghlan police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a roadside bomb targeting a police vehicle exploded, woundeding a motorcyclist.

Another explosion took place in the 13th police district of Kandahar City, Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, said. The blast occurred close to a former base of the Afghan National Army (ANA).

Similarly, a third blast targeted an ANA convoy on the Ring Road in Jalalabad but soldiers and civilians remained unhurt, said Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, police spokesman.

But Taliban claimed heavy casualties had been inflicted on the soldiers.

Separately, National Directorate of Security (NDS) officials claimed arresting two would-be suicide bombers along with suicide vests in Asadabad, the capital of eastern Kunar province.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Sayedkhel, police chief, confirmed the bombers had been detained by the NDS. The pair, he said, was travelling to Jalalabad in a rickshaw when they were nabbed by intelligence officials in Bangharo bazaar of Behsud district.

Both detainees belonged to Khogyani district and allegedly have links to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-i-Taiba.
