KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty-four more Afghan officers, who were undergoing training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), graduated to become officers and would join the Afghan National Army (ANA) soon, a statement from the Indian Embassy said Sunday.

It said that a total of 665 Gentlemen cadets including 64 from friendly foreign countries passed out from the IMA.

Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi, Afghanistan’s chief of army staff, was the chief guest for the passing out parade at IMA, Dehradun, which held on Saturday.

In the past, a large number of ANA officers have completed their training in this prestigious military academy and have come back as professional soldiers to serve their motherland.

Gen. Karimi is in India on an official visit and was accorded the guard of honour. Gen. Karimi laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti – a monument to the martyrs.  During his visit, he would meet with top Indian military officials, including the Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag and discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
