KABUL-controlled zone of Kashmir, an Islamabad-based news agency reported on Thursday

“An operation for the deportation of unlawful foreigners across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is in full swing and thousands of families have voluntarily moved from there,” the report said.

 A hundred families of illegal foreigners had moved from Mirpur sub-division, the Associated Press of Pakistan said, adding another 197 houses left Thothal, 140 Mangla, 155 Afzalpur, 97 New City and 128 other areas.

Led by magistrates with police, authorities conducted raids at residential sites of in Mirpur district and other parts of AJK. The illegal settlers are mostly Afghan refugees. In all, 828 Afghan families have been expelled.
