KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 18 projects of public utility have been completed in the Shebkoh and Lash-wa-Jaween districts of western Farah province, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) said in a statement released on Tuesday.
With a cost of 26,955,556 afghanis, the projects were funded by the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) under the MRRD, including 10% community contribution, the statement said.
According to NSP provincial manager, these development schemes included the construction of retaining walls, culverts, excavation of wells equipped with hand pumps and gravelling rural roads.
It said that around 5,040 families in different communities have benefitted from the development projects, which would multiply economic activities in the area.
Since its inception in the province, the NSP has disbursed 1,501,944,111 afs for implementation of 1,825 infrastructure projects in various sectors such as transport, water and sanitation, irrigation, power, livelihoods and education.
It said that implementation of the projects has enabled thousands of residents of Farah to access basic human needs.
