JALALABAD (Pajhwok): One civilian was killed and nine others wounded when two mortar shells hit the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, an official said.

The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News one of the mortars hit a cement market in Dand Ghara area of Jalalabad in the morning, killing one person and injuring eight others.

The second mortar landed in the Amir Shahid Garden area, but it caused no casualties, he said.

A doctor at the civil hospital said they had been delivered one dead body and nine wounded persons.
