FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): At least 14 insurgents have surrendered to security forces and an ammunition depot has been seized in northeastern Badakhshan province, officials said on Monday.
The insurgents surrendered during clearing operations in Tagab district, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement. Some 20 villages were cleared in Kashm and Tagab districts.
A huge ammunition depot containing shells with warheads, anti-aircraft bullets, machineguns, RPGs, etc. were recovered in Tagab.
According to security officials, Maulvi Abdul Qadir, a famous bomb-making expert, was also detained in Tagab.
