He said counter-narcotics police had arrested 1,400 smugglers in more than 1,200 operations. The detainees included 20 government and as many security officials, 19 women and two foreigners.
The deputy minister drugs and chemicals weighing 105 tonnes along with laboratories were destroyed this year, when 20 counter-narcotics officers lost their lives and 25 others injured. Ahmadi warned that high-ranking officials were involved in drug smuggling and trade.
