2 bombers, policeman killed in Kandahar incidents
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two suicide bombers and a policeman were killed and three policemen wounded in two separate incidents in southern Kandahar province, officials said Saturday.
Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News that a suicide attacker was forcing his way inside the police compound in Breshna Kot Pul area but police identified him and shot him dead in a brief exchange of gunfire.
A policeman was also killed in the clash. A Kalashnikov was recovered from the attacker, he added.
Meanwhile, Durrani said a second suicide bomber was gunned down by police before he could reach his intended target in Ghulam Dani area in Kandahar city.
He said police ordered the attacker to stop but he ignored their orders. The bomber detonated his explosives after police opened fire at him, injuring three policemen, he added.
Civilians suffered no casualties in the incidents.
Abdul Wasay, a resident of Qazi Ghulam locality, said they heard gunshots before an explosion last night at around 8: 00 pm.
