JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and eight others wounded in two separate blasts in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Wednesday, the governor’s spokesman said.

Abdul Zia Abdulzai told Pajhwok Afghan News one blast targetted a police vehicle on the road leading to the Pakistan Consulate, wounding two policemen.

However, it could not be ascertained whether it was a planted bomb that damaged the vehicle also, he added.

Dr. Humayun, head of the main provincial hospital, said a body and two wounded people had been received.

Separately, a passport officer’s vehicle was targeted on the Torkham Highway. One person was killed and three others were wounded. But another health official said four people were wounded in the incident.

Police said a son of the provincial passport head was killed in the blast while the official himself was wounded.
