JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three police trainers were killed and a fourth wounded on Monday when a suicide bomber on a bike attacked their pick-up vehicle in eastern Nangarhar province near the Pakistani border, an official said.
The trainers were travelling in a police pick-up vehicle on the Torkham-Jalalabad Highway when came under attack near the Torkham customs office at around 7am, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Two of the trainers were killed on the spot and another two were wounded in the attack. Initial investigation showed the assailant exploded his bomb-rigged motorcycle close to the vehicle carrying the police trainers, Abdulzai said.
The trainers were on their way to a police academy when they were attacked. The acting governor had directed security organs to investigate the incident.
Nangarhar Civil Hospital director Dr. Hamayun Zahir said they had received three dead bodies and one wounded police officer from the scene. The wounded officer was in stable condition, he added.
