Parwan police chief Muhammad Zaman Mamozai said the operation was conducted in Tutum Dara area of Charikar on a house, where the insurgents had gathered. But he did not go into further details.

Elsewhere, a man killed his spouse in western Herat province on Monday, a day after the International Womeninfo-icon’s Day was observed, an official said.

Herat police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the 25-year-old “Atifa” was stabbed to death by her husband in Qara bagh village of Gulran district. The reason behind the murder remained unclear and the killer was at large, he said.

The women’s day was celebrated in Kabulinfo-icon and several provinces on Sunday, with speakers calling for an end to violence against women and punishment for the perpetrators.
