MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Four civilians were wounded in a pre-noon explosion in the capital of northern Balkh province on Wednesday, an official said.
The bomb exploded in the Ibn-i-Sena Square northeast of the Hazrat Ali (RA) mausoleum at 11am, deputy police chief Col. Abdur Raziq told Pajhwok Afghan News. The injured include a woman, a man and a child.
But a source in Balkh Civil Hospital said four people had been brought to the hospital from the scene of the roadside bombing. Children and women sell handicrafts in the area.
One eyewitness Samaduddin said the blast had resulted from explosives placed in a plastic ewer. A boy was selling plastic water vessels in the locality, he said, claiming several people were wounded.
