KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): One person was killed and nine others injured in a traffic accident in southern Kandahar province, where three persons had been found dead under mysterious circumstances, officials said on Saturday.
The accident took place when a car and a motorcycle crashed into a trailer, leaving one person dead and nine others wounded, said Samim Khpalwak, the provincial government spokesman.
He said the wounded persons had been taken to the Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar City, the provincial capital. Some of them were stated to be in critical condition.
An investigation by traffic police showed the accident was a result of carelessness.
Khpalwak said a dead body had been found in the Famil area of Kandahar City with a note that read “anyone who persuades our children to use drugs will meet the same fate.”
The man’s body was found in the 9th police district and had been shot in the head, said Khpalwak, who added police had launched their investigation into the murder, but so far no one had been arrested.
Another dead body was found with 15 bombs placed beneath it in the Spin Boldak border town near the Pakistani border.
Khpalwak said the slain person and his father had recently travelled to Pakistan’s city of Quetta for treatment, but they were killed by unknown gunmen there.
The killers had only brought dead body of the son to Nawi Kali area and placed 15 bombs beneath the body. Police had defused the bombs.
He said the victim was yet to be identified and police were investigating.
Incidents of target killings and deaths under mysterious circumstances have once again increased in Kandahar, the birthplace of Taliban movement.
